KCBS PRESENTS HONDA BRACKET CHALLENGE CONTEST RULES
NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. THE CONTEST IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.
BRACKET CHALLENGE OFFICIAL RULES. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. OPEN TO LEGAL RESIDENTS OF THE LOS ANGELES DESIGNATED MARKET AREA WHO ARE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER AT TIME OF ENTRY. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
Online entries will be subject to standard Internet access and usage charges imposed by your Internet service provider.
1. How to Enter the Contest:
(a) The Bracket Challenge will begin on KCBS-TV on Sunday, March 14, 2010 between 3PM and 4PM PST and end on Monday, April 5, 2010 at 11:59PM PST. Contest is sponsored by Honda Regional Marketing.
(b) Users can enter via online entry at cbs2.com and play the Bracket Challenge game by picking the winning teams for all the rounds of the entire men’s college basketball tournament. All selections must be made between March 14, 2010 between 3PM and 4PM PST through March 18, 2010 at 9AM PST. Participants who choose to enter and play the Bracket Challenge will be automatically entered into the contest.
(c) Limit one entry per person. Use of computer programs and other automatic means to enter is prohibited.
(d) KCBS-TV (“Station” or “Sponsor”) is not responsible for technical or computer failures, errors or data loss of any kind, lost or unavailable Internet connections, or failed, incomplete, garbled or deleted computer or network transmissions, inability to access any Web site or on-line service, or any other error or malfunction, or late, lost, illegible, incomplete or misdirected entries. Entry materials that have been tampered with or altered are void. If the judges determine, in their sole discretion, that there is any suspected or actual electronic tampering with the contest or if technical difficulties compromise the integrity of the contest, the Sponsor reserves the right to void the entries at issue and/or terminate and conduct a random drawing to award the prize among all eligible entries received as of the termination date. If the contest is terminated due to tampering or technical difficulties prior to its expiration date, notice will be posted at cbs2.com. If, for any reason, the contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the contest, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant that tampers with the operation of the contest or website or violates the Official Rules of the Contest. By use of this website and by entering the contest, you agree to the Station’s Web Site Terms of Use Agreement and to the use of your personal information as described in the Privacy Policy located at http://cbs2.com /privacy.
(e) Entry deemed made by holder of e-mail account. (f) Odds of winning depend on number of eligible entries received.
2. Eligibility Restrictions:
(a) The contest is open to Southern California residents who are 18 years of age or older. Employees of, KCBS-TV, KCAL9-TV, CBS Corp., UPICKEM.com., Honda Regional Marketing, other television and radio stations in the Los Angeles market, and their affiliates, subsidiaries and advertising agencies and their immediate family members or persons living in the same household are ineligible to participate or win. (b) Viewers are eligible to win a KCBS-TV contest only once every sixty days. Only one winner per household is permitted in any Contest. Viewers are eligible to win a prize valued at $600.00 or more only once every six months.
(c) All entries become the sole property of KCBS-TV and CBS Corporation and will not be returned. By entering, entrants agree to abide by these rules, and warrant and represent that their entry is their original work.
3. Prizes:
(a) Grand Prize Package: One (1) Grand Prize Winner will receive a 42” Flat Screen Television. Approximate Value of 42” Flat Screen Television: $1,000.00.
(b) All other costs and expenses in connection with Grand Prize Winner’s receipt and use of the prize are the winner’s sole responsibility.
(c) All prizes or prize certificates may be picked up at the office of KCBS-TV, 4200 Radford Ave, Studio City, CA 91604. Any prize or prize certificate not claimed within 48 hours of winning will be forfeited by the winner. In the event that a prize or prize certificate is mailed to the winner, it will be with the prior written consent of the winner and therefore, the winner assumes the risk of its arrival. KCBS-TV/KCAL9-TV is not responsible for the safe arrival of a prize or prize certificate.
(d) Contest prizes are not transferable. Prizes may not be substituted for or redeemed for cash. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prizes of comparable value.
4. Selection of Winners:
(a) Decisions of Sponsor with respect to the Contest are final.
(b) One (1) Grand Prize Winner will be selected at random from all eligible entries received and will be notified by email on or about Tuesday, April 6, 2010. If winner is unreachable after forty-eight (48) hours, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected. If UPICKEM.com or its affiliates cannot find an eligible winner for the prize, an alternate winner will be selected from the remaining eligible entries.
All results posted are unofficial until winner responds to e-mail notification.
The contest becomes the sole responsibility of UPICKEM.com beginning at the tip off of the first game.
Each round of the tournament is worth 64 points. There are 6 rounds in the tournament that total up to 384 points. First round games are 2 points each. Second round games are 4 points each. Third round games are 8 points each. Fourth round games are 16 points each. Fifth round games are 32 points each. And the final championship game is worth 64 points.
For the overall winner: If there are ties for overall score the computer takes those fans that picked the championship game correctly and applies the score approximation formula outlined above. If there are still ties the computer looks at who had:
1. The most points earned in the Fifth Round. 2. The most points earned in the Fourth Round. 3. The most points earned in the Third Round. 4. The most points earned in the Second Round. 5. The most points earned in the First Round. 6. If there is still a tie the computer picks a random winner from the tied players.
5. Conditions:
(a) Payment of all federal, state and local taxes is the sole responsibility of the winner and winners may receive an IRS Form 1099 or equivalent from CBS Television Stations.
(b) By participating in the Contest, the winner agrees to have their name, voice, or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this Contest, and to sign a publicity release, affidavit of eligibility and release of liability prior to acceptance of the prize. By accepting the prize, winner grants to Station the right to use the winner's name, voice, picture and/or likeness for purposes of advertising and publicity in any and all media now known or hereafter invented, without further permission or additional compensation (except where prohibited by law). All expenses on receipt and use of prize are the sole responsibility of winner. Winner, by acceptance of winner’s prize, agrees to release KCBS-TV, CBS Corporation, Honda Regional Marketing, UPICKEM.com, their respective parents and subsidiaries, and their respective advertising, promotion and production agencies from any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership or use of the prize or while preparing for, participating in, and/or traveling to any prize-related activity.
7. Contest sponsors reserve the right to make changes in the rules of the Contest which will become effective upon announcement.
8. Failure to comply with the Contest rules may result in a contestant’s disqualification.
9. If a game is canceled, forfeited, or indefinitely suspended for any reason, or if a game results in a tie, that game shall not count for any contestant and scores will be computed as if the game did not exist.
10. This contest is not intended for gambling. If it is determined that a contestant is using the contest for gambling purposes they will be disqualified and reported to authorities.
11. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the contest or in the announcement of the prize.
